The "Simple Life"

Sorry I've been away for awhile. I have had a very busy past few weeks! We recently moved from California to Utah!! My husband is from Utah and his whole family lives there. Soon after we were engaged we moved there for about 2 years. A couple months before our baby girl was born we moved to California- where I'm from and all of my family lives. We were there for a year but found ourselves struggling with the affects of the economy there. We have bigger plans for our future and our family, and it seemed those plans where nowhere near in our sight. Don't get me wrong I loooove California for many reasons, the biggest reason my mom aka Saturdayfinds. ;) She is my BFF and a wonderful grandma to my girl Amelie. It broke my heart to leave her again and take Amelie away from her too. I know though she understands that this is the best for our little family right now.

The upside is that there are many great things about Utah...like the thrift stores, estate sales, craft stores and craft/boutique shows!! I also have always had a place in my heart for that country feel. The country/cottage style of homes with white picked fences and large backyards. Farms, barns, old abdoned train cars and train tracks, and of course the the huge surrounding mountains. As you drive down the streets you see these homes right out of the romantic homes magazine.

Where were living (at my in laws- temporarily), the backyard has no fence and backs to farms, so it seems to go for miles. The neighbors across the street have horses, a rooster who roams the front yard, and wild peacocks!! Yes peacocks!

There also some many other things in or around Utah, like Moab where the red rocks are, the sand dunes, hot springs, places to go tubing down rivers, tons of camping spots, and the skiing of course in the winter. Not only do they celebrate 4th of July but July 24th Pioneer Day. Both having amazing firework shows! I cna't forget Sundance Film Festival too, that's always fun to mingle with the celebs and see some films.

I have already hit up some of the local thrift stores and craft shops like Hobby Lobby. So needless to say this city girl is enjoying the "Simple Life". ;)

Your Royal Highness & The Whimsical Fairy

So here are my newest creations...
The pincushions I like to call "Your Royal Highness" pincushions.

Each will be one of kind, and will have different
fabric and embellishments.
This one has a lovely vintage costume jewelry piece.

Soon to come will be ones embellished with cameos too. ;)
~~~~~
"Winnie the Whimsical Fairy"
The fairy ornament is called "Winnie the Whimsical Fairy".
She is made with a vintage plastic
pick head and pipe cleaner body.
She has some very detailed work,
including her ribbon ballet
shoes tied up her legs, tulle skirt,
silver leaf & pink feathered wings,
and pink posey flowers in her hair.
I will also be making different fairies as well, and some
will be displayed on a stand or setting like sitting on a swing.
These items will be for sale shortly in my Etsy shop! <3
Busy week..birthdays, movies, baby shower, car shopping, craft class teaching, and Mother's Day!
Whew ! This past past week had been so busy!
First off, Happy Mother's Day to all of you fellow moms
out there- hope you had a great one. ;)
Last weekend was my hubby's bday, so we
did many things to celebrate that, one including
buying a new car. We had to upgrade to a more family style
car, and decided on the Hyundai Santa Fe. It's rated one of the safest
and I just loooooove it!
My husband likes to say it was my gift for Mother's Day.~~~~~~~~
This past Thursday I taught a craft class at
the Enrichment Party at my church.
There were a few of us instructors, all doing various crafts.
There was a glass etching class, a "clutter" catcher class,
stenciling onesie class, and my class- making gift tags of course!! ;)
I had a ton of supplies donated to me
and got to keep most of it.
Friday, my husband and I went to see
Star Trek in the IMAX theater.
The movie was actually really good.
Saturday, went to a baby shower..
and then today, Sunday- went to church,
then went to my parent's house to have some brunch with them.
Got to celebrate Mother's Day with my
mom- Saturdayfinds, and that fact that
it's my first "official" Mother's Day.
You know how awesome my hubby is??
Well he got a me a Michael's crafts gift card!!!
He knows what I like.
Speaking of being a mom, my little girl Amelie
will be having her first bday June 1st!!!!
Already! Wow! I'm in the process of planning that.
It will be a cupcake/princess party of course!
~~~~~~~~~
In spite of all that, we're also in the process of moving
out of state, back to Utah!
~~~~~~~
Well I still managed to create some new beauties!!
I will blog about my new creations tomorrow,
and then will be selling them in my Etsy store.
You can have a sneak preview of one new lovely
creation if you go to my flickr page.
So come back to see the eye candy I have in
store for you!
Sweet finds with Saturdayfinds...over the weekend!!!
I went out to yard sales this past Saturday with my mom
aka Saturdayfinds. Hubby, aka RockStar, stayed home
with the baby and had dad daughter time.
We didn't even have to go far, her neighborhood was having
a community sale. We had a blast and wow did we score some treasures!!
These little treasures we purchased from her neighbor
only a few houses up from where my mom lives.
I was ready to give the little houses over
to my mom, because I know how much she adores them-
but she's pushing for me to sell them.
So stay tuned I will be posting them for sale soon
on my mom and I's Ebay store !! :)
Feast your eyes on these ladies...
Welcome back from Easter, hope everyone had a good weekend.
So yes it's already mid week and I'm just now posting this from Easter,
but hey those fellow mom's out there know how hard it can be
sometimes to get around to do the things you enjoy-
like blogging!! ;)
Well me and Saturdayfinds, got together to do some baking
for Easter, and we created these adorable peeps cupcakes! They
were almost too cute to eat, but we ate them anyways- yummy!
Goodies galore!
Hi Ladies!
Oh I'm sorry I've been gone for awhile, been so busy
and my little one, Amelie keeps me on my feet now
that she's
crawling everywhere!
It's funny, visiting other blogs, there are many
that start off their most recent post with the same... "been gone for awhile.."
I guess this new year has kept us all really busy!
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm so excited to be part of my Aunt Carrie's blog
Cottage Cozy giveaway!!
Part of
her giveaway includes visiting my blog
and my mom's blog
Saturdayfinds,
and posting a comment!!
How sweet of her to pass on more bloggers my way,
considering I'm fairly new to the
blog world. ;)
~~~~~~~~~
Did you notice the banner at the top of this posting?
I created it all by myself,
I'm so proud of it!
It's my first banner creation and
now I'm inspired to create more!
Here's my latest Valentine treat
...it's what I call a box full of love.
Its an adorable vintage red vinyl cosmetic case
I found sitting on display in the front window
of my local thrift shop down the street.
I filled with some vintage goodies from my
own personal collection- a cup & saucer, beaded gloves,
a Marie Antoinette style fan, hankies, doilies
and some crafting supplies too!
As you can see it's overflowing with delicious goodies,
too many to list!
It will be for sale on my Etsy page The Pink Door,
but you got to hurry it will only be
for sale for a limited time,
and Valentine's Day is right around the corner!
