Sorry I've been away for awhile. I have had a very busy past few weeks! We recently moved from California to Utah!! My husband is from Utah and his whole family lives there. Soon after we were engaged we moved there for about 2 years. A couple months before our baby girl was born we moved to California- where I'm from and all of my family lives. We were there for a year but found ourselves struggling with the affects of the economy there. We have bigger plans for our future and our family, and it seemed those plans where nowhere near in our sight. Don't get me wrong I loooove California for many reasons, the biggest reason my mom aka Saturdayfinds. ;) She is my BFF and a wonderful grandma to my girl Amelie. It broke my heart to leave her again and take Amelie away from her too. I know though she understands that this is the best for our little family right now.
The upside is that there are many great things about Utah...like the thrift stores, estate sales, craft stores and craft/boutique shows!! I also have always had a place in my heart for that country feel. The country/cottage style of homes with white picked fences and large backyards. Farms, barns, old abdoned train cars and train tracks, and of course the the huge surrounding mountains. As you drive down the streets you see these homes right out of the romantic homes magazine.
Where were living (at my in laws- temporarily), the backyard has no fence and backs to farms, so it seems to go for miles. The neighbors across the street have horses, a rooster who roams the front yard, and wild peacocks!! Yes peacocks!
There also some many other things in or around Utah, like Moab where the red rocks are, the sand dunes, hot springs, places to go tubing down rivers, tons of camping spots, and the skiing of course in the winter. Not only do they celebrate 4th of July but July 24th Pioneer Day. Both having amazing firework shows! I cna't forget Sundance Film Festival too, that's always fun to mingle with the celebs and see some films.
I have already hit up some of the local thrift stores and craft shops like Hobby Lobby. So needless to say this city girl is enjoying the "Simple Life". ;)
